Jenni Frenke

“Grass roots advocacy for sleeping cabin communities in Ontario”
Keynote Sunday October 20th 10:40am

Join Jenni Frenke on the new stage as she presents her talk, “Grassroots Advocacy for Sleeping Cabin Communities in Ontario.” Housing is a fundamental human right, yet the path to ensuring that everyone has a roof over their head is far from simple. As the housing crisis deepens, neighbors across Ontario are banding together, advocating for emergency transitional housing solutions like supportive sleeping cabin villages for those experiencing homelessness. Despite being a relatively quick and temporary option, this initiative has faced significant political hurdles across the province.

Jenni Frenke has been at the forefront of this movement since 2022, volunteering and working tirelessly in the field. She is a key volunteer with the Northumberland Sleeping Cabin Collective, an employee at Elizabeth Fry Peterborough, and has served as a Housing Case Manager for the City-funded Modular Bridge Housing Program. Currently, she is the Service Coordinator for Peterborough Action for Tiny Homes. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear Jenni’s firsthand insights on the challenges and progress in grassroots housing advocacy.
