NORTHUMBERLAND EXPO FOR WOMEN (NEW) is a two-day expo bringing women entrepreneurs, educators, and artists together for one fabulous weekend of shopping, networking, sharing and learning.
The brainchild of Northumberland County entrepreneurs, Maria Papaioannoy (Northumberland Women), and Signe Langford (Port Hope Makers’ Market), NEW invites guests to be inspired by some of the smartest, most vibrant and creative women from Northumberland County and beyond.
Guests will shop women-owned businesses in our marketplace; relax and indulge in tasty treats at our in-house cafe; engage in workshops, panel discussions, and talks with the dynamic women – from financial advisors to writers and everything in between! – who make this county tick. For two enlightening days we’ll shine a spotlight on women entrepreneurs, musicians, writers, business leaders, knowledge keepers, artisans, culinary professionals, and more.
NEW made its debut in 2023 with the theme: “Put You First”. It’s something many women struggle with, so we created an event to put all women first. And did we ever! Over the weekend, some 500 women attended, enjoying talks on women in local politics, hormone wellness, financial empowerment, real estate, family law, midwifery, women’s health, and so much more!
The feedback was great and the refrain we heard over and over was: “You’re doing this again next year, right?”

So, welcome to NEW 2024, with this year’s theme: “Be a DisruptHER”!
We’re hard at work planning an even better and bigger event, this time at the Cobourg Community Center, with more vendors in the marketplace and another stellar line-up of speakers, facilitators, and educators. So, save the date: October 19th and 20th, 2024 and we’ll see YOU at NEW!
